For the 5th consecutive year, the swimming event of the non-profit organization Race for Autism Gr, “Swim for Autism,”, was successfully held at the Kallithea Swimming Pool.
The event was co-organized with the Municipality of Kallithea and held under the auspices of the Department of Sports, led by Deputy Mayor Georgios Margomenos, aiming to raise awareness about autism and promote the equal participation of neurodivergent individuals in sports.
During the event, every half hour, 20 swimmers entered the pool and swam as many meters as they could, in any style they preferred, sending a strong message of acceptance, participation, and inclusion.
Swimmers of all ages and abilities took part. Among them were distinguished names from swimming and triathlon, including Sotiris Pastras, Ioannis Drymonakos, Grigoris Souvatzoglou, Apostolos Chryssafelis, Christos Fragkos, as well as Nikos Giannakoulakos, an athlete on the autism spectrum, and athletes from masters teams, all reinforcing the message of equal participation of neurodivergent individuals in sports.
The event was also attended by the Mayor of Kallithea, Kostas Askounis, Municipal Councilor Theodoros Seitanidis, and Head of the Sports Department Giannis Kordoutis, confirming the support of local authorities for initiatives that promote inclusion and social cohesion.
The Founder and President of Race for Autism Gr, Ada Stamatatou, thanked the Municipality of Kallithea for providing the swimming facility for such an important initiative that promotes empathy, volunteerism, and neurodiversity in sports.
The event was made possible thanks to the invaluable support and contribution of the Swimming Pool Manager Manthos Chryssafakis, Tasos Karabelas, Head of Programs and Coaches, as well as the coaches, staff, and volunteers of the facility.

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, the 5 km race of the non-profit organization Race for Autism Gr took place in Vouliagmeni, co-organized with the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni, with the aim of raising awareness about autism and promoting the equal participation of neurodivergent people in sports, on the occasion of April 2 – World Autism Awareness Day.
Once again, the race was sold out, reaching 1,700 registrations, confirming the strong support of the community for this cause.
As every year, the technical organization of the race was undertaken by MyRace.
For yet another year, the race presentation was hosted by Petros Parthenis, founder of WeSwim Greece.

The total number of runners who started and finished the race was 1,189.
For yet another year, female runners outnumbered male runners among the finishers, with 609 women and 580 men.
Greetings
The Mayor of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni, Mr. Grigoris Konstantellos, welcomed the runners, stressing that this is the Municipality’s favorite race, as it serves a particularly meaningful and important cause.
Next, Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Marios Themistokleous addressed the participants, wished everyone good luck, and also took part in the race together with his family.
The founder and President of Race for Autism Gr, Ms. Ada Stamatatou, thanked the Municipality for its hospitality and co-organization, as well as all the volunteers and runners. She made special reference to the fact that the first стартing group always belongs to people with disabilities participating with wheelchairs or handcycles, with or without escorts, as they are a living example of strength and perseverance for society.
The Start
The first starting group set off at 09:30, with the start given by Mayor Mr. Konstantellos and Ms. Ada Stamatatou.
Dozens of para-athletes and athletes with disabilities from associations took part equally in the 5 km course in Kavouri:

At the finish line, as every year, medals were handed to the runners by the beneficiaries of the residential care home I Chara — people with disabilities and intellectual disabilities — supporting the true meaning of inclusion and the integration of people with severe disabilities into community life.

On Saturday, April 12th, 2025, the Kallithea Municipal Swimming Pool hosted the charitable event “Swim for Autism” for the fourth consecutive year. The initiative was organized by the non-profit organization Race for Autism Gr, in collaboration with the Department of Early Childhood Education and Sports of the Municipality of Kallithea and Deputy Mayor Mr. Georgios Margomenos.
Ada Stamatatou, Founder and President of Race for Autism Gr, coordinated once again this action, aiming to raise awareness and promote equal participation of neurodiverse individuals in sports.
The swimming event was voluntarily organized and supervised by Mr. Tasos Karampelas, coach and head of the Kallithea Swimming Pool, along with his dedicated team of coaches. Their contribution – along with the efforts of the administrative and cleaning staff – was invaluable, as they all volunteered their services for over six hours after the end of their regular shifts.
Mr. Petros Parthenis, founder of WESWIM, hosted the event, reinforcing the message of inclusion with his presence.
Over 240 swimmers, both amateur and professional, took part in the event. Every 30 minutes, groups of 20 swimmers per lane entered the pool, actively contributing to the awareness campaign for autism through their participation.
Each participant received an athlete’s bag, a swim cap, and a traditional Greek koulouri (bread ring), courtesy of Race for Autism Gr.

On Sunday, March 30th, the 5km race organized by the Non-Profit Civil Company Race for Autism Gr took place in Vouliagmeni, in collaboration with the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, aiming to raise awareness about autism and promote the equal participation of neurodiverse individuals in sports, in honor of April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day.
The race sold out by March 19th with 1,600 participants, showcasing the strong support of the running community for this cause.
The event was technically organized, as every year, by myrace.gr, delivering an impeccably executed race down to the finest detail.
As with last year, more women runners finished the race than men, with a total of 682 women and 628 men.
The total number of runners who started and completed the race was 1,310.
The race was hosted by Mr. Petros Parthenis, founder of WESWIM, who once again encouraged people to embrace physical exercise as a means of healing the soul.
The race officially started at 9:30 AM, launched by the Mayor of VVV, Mr. Grigoris Konstantellos, together with the President of the NPO, Ms. Ada Stamatatou.
The honorable Mayor, a man of genuine empathy, stated before the race:
“We all have a duty to be present, to promote awareness of neurodiversity, and to support organizations that uphold the equal participation of people with disabilities in sports.”
His promise to double next year’s participants gives us hope and strength to carry on.
Ms. Ada Stamatatou, founder and president of the NPO, thanked the Mayor for his hospitality and co-organization, emphasizing the importance of giving starting priority to assisted wheelchair users, para-athletes, and athletes using handcycles.
This race supports not free participation, but equal participation, ensuring access and safety in a competitive environment.
Every year, the first starting group is reserved for athletes with disabilities, honoring their right to begin from the A block — a symbol of their equal standing.
Dozens of para-athletes from organizations such as IONAS AMEA, Trexe Mazi Mou, MDA Hellas with the Finish Liners, Jambol Agapis, Dromeis Elpidas, 9th Elementary School of Athens, Omada Allilepidro, and KDAP-MEA “Dromos ton Chromaton” participated with wheelchairs and handcycles alongside their running companions, completing the challenging seaside 5km route in Kavouri.
Among them was Sezon Fernandez, a two-time Paralympic medalist (gold and bronze) in seated shot put, who never misses the event.
The second wave of runners, the majority, started five minutes later.
Runners of all ages and abilities joined on closed roads secured by the municipal police and traffic department.
Families with children and baby strollers also participated in support of autism awareness.

On Saturday, May 25th, the charity event "Swim for autism" of the Civil Non-Profit Company RACE FOR AUTISM GR took place for a third year in a row, in co-organization with the children's education and sports department of the Municipality of Kallithea and the deputy mayor Mr. Georgios Margomenos.
The president and founder of NPCC Race for Autism Gr Ada Stamatatou organized the charity event for autism awareness and for equal participation of people with neurodiversity in sports events.
The supervision as every year, was voluntarily supported by the swimming coach and manager of the Kallithea Municipality swimming pool Mr. Tasos Karampelas together with his team of coaches.
The founder of WeSwim, Petros Parthenis presented the swim event who tirelessly encouraged the swimmers for over eight hours.
Over 200 professional and amateur swimmers passed by the Kallithea swimming pool where every half hour twenty people per lane contributed to autism awareness with their presence.
The athlete's bag and swimming cap were in the registration package.
In the athlete's bag was a PHARMACY 295 sunscreen, an energy gel from GU Energy Greece and a CLIF bar from THIRD WIND.

On Sunday, March 31, the 3rd 5k road race of the Non-Profit Civil Company “Race for Autism Gr” was held in Vouliagmeni in co-organization with the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni.
The technical organization was, as every year from myracegr.
This year 1215 runners finished with the women having the lead with 617 entries!
The presentation of the race was made by Petros Parthenis, founder of WESWIM Greece who gives his best voice to raise autism awareness.
The start was given at 09:30 by the Mayor of Vouliagmeni Mr.Grigoris Constantellos, who, as he had promised at the press conference, ran also at the race.
The first coral consisted disabled athletes who, as every year, honor the race that gives them equal participation and the possibility to start at the first coral.
Dozens of disabled athletes from the Ionas Disability Association, NPO Run with me, MDA Hellas together with Finish Liners, Rush out and JAMBOL AGAPIS ran in wheelchairs and in handrails with their guide runners and equally participated in the magical route of the 5k next to the sea.
In the second coral most of the runners started 5 min later.
Runners of all ages and abilities ran the 5k road race on the closed roads organized by the police municipality together with the help from police.
Families with children, strollers with babies, beloved pets were present at the race.
This year, the effort by the chairman and president of “Race for Autism Gr”Mrs Ada Stamatatou to make inclusion a reality was strong.
It was her idea that at the finish line volunteers with severe disabilities and mental retardation from the shelter CHARA gave the medals!
Inclusion means giving everyone the opportunity to shine and at this race everyone is perfectly capable of showing his best performance.
The overall women's winner was Denise Dimaki of GAS Ilisos with a time of 19:10.
In the general men's race, the winner was Fourmouzis David from Anargyrous Varis with a time of 18:05'.
In the 2nd place overall for women, Konstantinou Marina of A.S. Agia Paraskevi with a time of 19:17'
And 3rd overall women's place is Karagiannis Agoritsa from Marathonos Serres with a time of 20:54'

The company MAXUS-MOTOR.GR provided the cars that transported the materials of the race, but the most importantly they transported the disabled volunteers from the "Hara"shelter to Vouliagmeni and returned them after the end of the race, an action organized by Ms. Maria Kardamaki senior marketing executive of the company.

On Saturday, April 8, the 2nd "Swim for Autism" of the Civil Non-Profit Company RaceForAutism Gr was held at the New Swimming Pool "Stavros Niarchos" in co-organization with the Municipality of Kallithea and the O.P.A.A. sports department Yiannis Gallos
220 swimmers took part in the annual autism awareness swim which is celebrated throughout the month of April.
The swim was coordinated by the manager of the Kallithea swimming pool and head coach Tasos Karampelas in collaboration with the president and founder of RaceForAutism.Gr, Ada Stamatatou.

With ideal conditions, the 2nd RACE FOR AUTISM Gr was held on April 2, 2023 with more than 1000 participants leaving positive impressions and memories.
The Civil Non-Profit Company Race For Autism Gr in co-organization with the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni held a 5 km road race and a 1.5 km symbolic walk at Kavouri Vouliagmeni on April 2 International Day of autism awareness.
The race was under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor while the technical management was by MyRace. More than 1000 participants showed up at 9:30 in the morning at the beach of Kavouri with smiles and optimism to complete this important project with absolute success.
The start was given by the Mayor of Varis Voulas Vouliagmenis Grigoris Konstantellos, the Deputy Minister of Labor Welfare and Social Solidarity Domna Michailidou and the president of Race for Autism Gr Ada Stamatatou in the presence of the General Secretary of Social Solidarity and Combating Poverty Giorgos Stamatis and the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zacharakis.
The start was given in two waves, in the 1st group we had the emotional start of 9 wheelchairs, Paralympians with manual wheelchairs and many PWDs who were present supporting neurodiversity in sport and in the 2nd group the rest of the 800 participants.

On Sunday, April 3rd 2022 a charity swimming event 'Swim for autism' was held for autism awareness and acceptance in Greece at the New Swimming Pool of Kallithea 'Stavros Niarchos', under the auspices of the Municipality of Kallithea.
For 5 hours, every half an hour 20 swimmers, 200 in total, age groupers, professional athletes, Olympians, Paralympians, parents of autistic people and autistic adults were present at this celebration at the beautiful swimming pool of Kallithea.
The action was accompanied voluntarily by the staff and coaches of the swimming pool.

On April 2, 2022, the first race of Race For Autism Gr took place in Tritsi Park of the Municipality of Ilion with 5 and 10 km road races.
The race for autism awareness and acceptance in Greece was sold out with 800 entries.
The start of the 5 km race was given by the Deputy Minister of Welfare Domna Michailidou together with the Mayor of Ilion Nikos Zenetos and the start of the 10 km race by the Attica Regional Governor George Patoulis in the presence of the representative of the Greek Parliament Giannis Loverdos.
The race was honored by the presence of the Honorable President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou who walked symbolically on the 5 km route together with autistic adults from Attica structures with their accompanying caregivers.

In 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic the RACE FOR AUTISM GR took place virtually the whole month of April with free participation throughout Greece and abroad organised by ALL ABOUT RUNNING under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and with the support of the Social Welfare Center Attica Region K.K.P.P.A ..
The participations were over 3000 in competitions of running, cycling, swimming and walking.

On July 26 and 27, 2021 in the beautiful Itilo in the Port of Laconia, the Open Water Swimming race OCEANMAN GREECE (2/5/10 km) was held and was dedicated to autism awareness in Greece.
More than 1000 swimmers from 20 different countries competed wearing the bracelet with the autism logo puzzle.
The start of the race was given by the Deputy Minister of Labor, Welfare and Social Solidarity, Ms. Domna Michailidou
